Garifuna Resolution- DC

The Garifuna Consortium is excited to partner with U. S. Congressman Danny K Davis (D-7th District in Chicago, IL) in the endeavor to draft a Garifuna Resolution outlining the intangible Garifuna history. We are thankful to Congressman Danny K Davis for his commitment to read the Garifuna Resolution on the congressional in Washington, DC. This momentous occasion to be acknowledged by Congress, to have the Garifuna story read on the congressional floor and to have our history archived in Congress for generations to come will be a boon to our Nation.

Information will be shared as we near this monumental day so that Garinagu from across the diaspora can join us in Washington, DC for the Garifuna Resolution reading. Other Garifuna community organized events will also be planned for the weekend in DC. Stay tuned.

2020 GarifunaConsortium Symposium- NY

(Oct. 31- November 7th 2020 (at the United Nations /Nov 6th 2020) This year will mark our 4th annual symposium and the first full cycle for the Garifuna Consortium and Garinagu Ethnic Group Action Committee for the Preservation of the Garinagu. Part of the Garifuna Consortium’s strategy is to operate based on the Presidential election cycle in the United States, so that we can shift as necessary per administration, to make sure we meet the social welfare needs of all Garinagu in the US. We sincerely feel that an organized Garifuna community in the United States can secure the future for everything and anything that is Garifuna. The American Dream is alive and well and we are a living testament to that fact. This will also be the year to participate in the electoral process across America as a united front. Organizations across America will hit the streets and make sure that every eligible voter makes it to the voting polls. This year will also be allocated to reflect on the past 4 years to evaluate ourselves, listen to each other, gird our belts and prepare for 2024 with the same agenda until Garifuna institutions manifest from our consistency.
